There were pretty much thunderstorms every afternoon in Colorado. At one point we were outside and my hair started standing up. (we jumped back into the car)

That's not a little creek, it's the Gunnison River, 1500 feet below and about 50 horizontal feet to the south.

This storm was hanging over the pass, and rain was starting to fall. It was COLD too but not quite cold enough for snow.

There was still plenty of snow at this pass, which is over 12,000 feet. Shortly after this point the road turns to dirt.
