When the smog clears, the front range of the San Gabriel Mountains is surprisingly beautiful.. on this day a dry thunderstorm came through and blew away the smog.

A horned lizard... also somewhat rare but for obvious reasons they are often overlooked. 

Short-Joint beavertail, a rare plant. 

This is the road up Fish Creek. It isn't open to the public anymore, for obvious reasons, but a 4*4 can still navigate the road, if you have the key to the gate 

Necktie Basin, a weird natural basin at 4000 feet. There is a small spring and there used to be sheep here... now there is a dusty road. No one ever comes up here anymore, it's a lonely but amazing place. 

Twin Peaks and a thunderstorm. From this angle, you can see only one of the two peaks. 

This is the closest I got to seeing a thunderstorm while on my trip. Oddly enough, however, there was a thunderstorm last night in Pasadena... in June! We don't really get June thunderstorms.
