Gibraltar Reservoir, originally uploaded by inyopfc.

As of last week this reservoir was almost full. It's rained an inch and a half since then (probably more in the mountains) so it is probably full right now.

Snow

La Cumbre Peak, originally uploaded by inyopfc.

I hiked to the top of the peak on the left RIGHT (without pines.  I dont know my left from my right.). This point is about the halfway point, and the pines in the foreground are Coulter Pines growing at a lower than average elevation.

Last week, I hiked the Tunnel Trail to the top of the mountains behind Santa Barbara. The trail you see here is actually NOT the tunnel trail.

First Blue Dicks

First Blue Dicks, originally uploaded by inyopfc.

This is the first Blue Dicks (Dichelostemma capitatum) I've seen this year, found last week. There are lots more about to bloom. It looks like it could be a good wildflower year despite a dry January

It looks like I will be leaving Santa Barbara soon. In the short term I'll be back in Malibu, in the long term maybe Vermont, or maybe not.

"Potreros" are little meadows or open, moist areas in the mountains. This one is full of deer grass.

Snowstorm Building over Pine Mountain

This was in January... the mountain got a couple of inches of snow a few hours after this picture was taken.
